The Fundación Jardín del Amor works with 30 vulnerable children and young people aged between 4 and 18 years. The 30 young people with whom the project is currently working are living below the poverty line and have been affected by violence, physica labuse, extreme poverty, sexual abuse, illiteracy, sexual and work place exploitation, drug addiction and beggary. The mission of the foundation is to provide protection for these vulnerable young people through the project’s key values: dignity, love, respect, transparency and perseverance.
The foundation began as a community soup kitchen, providing breakfasts and lunches to mainly women and children in need within the community of Medellín. However, its focus changed upon the recognition of the vulnerabilities of young people at the home at high risk of abuse, poverty, prostitution, substance addition, workplace exploitation and criminal activity.
