Brief description and main aims

To work with boys between the ages of 10 and 18 with the aim to help them in their process out of drug addiction and reintegrate them in their family and community life.

Main Activities

Volunteer tasks

• Support the children and teenagers in their classes and pedagogical activities
• Hold English lessons
• Develop your own project with the children (cultural, recreation or pedagogical)

Volunteer requirements / Skills

• Respect the identity and privacy of the participants, as well as the philosophy of the Foundation and institutional organizations
• Bring initiative and ideas for projects
• The volunteer will have their own room, but should be willing to occasionally share it when the project receives visitors
• There are certain dressing rules (e.g. legs have to be covered)

Location

Medellin is the second largest city in Colombia (3.5 million) located in the department of Antioquia. Is known for its textile and turistic industry. The project is located just outside of Medellin.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer has a room with a bathroom for themselves, however other compartments might be used for storage and guests. There is WiFi in the project’s public areas. The volunteer doesn’t have access to the kitchen, meals are provided in the project. Generally, the volunteer has to do their laundry by hand, though a washing machine may be available. They are very strict with the night arrival since they live with young people and it is important to respect the security rules. he farm is outside Medellín (approximately 1 ½ hours).
