Brief description and main aims

Rumah Ilham is one of the institutions in Indonesia whose local staff is experienced in the application and training of renewable energy, especially biogas and organic agriculture. They have a mission to share and introduce the environmentally friendly energy to Indonesian by giving some local workshops to the farmers or villagers in Jogjakarta and surroundings.

Volunteer tasks

The role of the volunteer will be assisting local staff and learning the implementation of renewable energy in Indonesia. Moreover, the presence of volunteers could give some ideas and feedback reagrding improvements.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should be open-minded, mature, respectful of local customs, tolerant, creative, flexible, patient, confident and independent. The volunteer should also be willing to accept basic living conditions in the project site.

The volunteer should have never been found guilty in a criminal case. It is strictly prohibited to possess narcotics, marijuana, opium, stimulants or other drugs. The volunteer should not have piercings on the face and no visible tattoos. A common hairstyle (not colourful, dreadlocks) is requested. Flexible vegetarians are welcomed but unfortunately, we are not able to host strict vegetarians (vegan).

Location

The project is located in Jogjakarta

The terminal of arrival: Semarang Airport, railway station (Volunteer is NOT ALLOWED to buy a flight ticket before getting the visa and confirmation from the host organization).

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The accommodation and food will be provided by a local host family or at a dormitory (to be confirmed). The volunteer may have own room or share a room and other facilities with host family members. Facilities are simple and Indonesian style (no hot water, no washing machine).
