Brief description and main aimsThere are some Islamic schools in Java Island that have Arabic language in their national curriculum. The students sometimes have daily routine to read Qur’an before the full day learning in school. They are learning to write and read Qur’an as well as speaking Arabic for daily conversation. |
Volunteer tasks
Moreover, the presence of volunteers could give motivate the students in practicing their foreign laguage knowledge. Intercultural learning in a form of dialogue, music and games could give the students better understanding of another culture.

Volunteer requirements / SkillsA native Arabic speaker or fluent in Arabic is preferred. The volunteer should be open-minded, mature, respectful of local customs, tolerant, creative, flexible, patient, confident and independent. The volunteer should also be willing to accept basic living conditions in the project site. The volunteer should have never been found guilty in a criminal case. It is strictly prohibited to possess narcotics, marijuana, opium, stimulants or other drugs. The volunteer should not have piercings on the face and no visible tattoos. A common hairstyle (not colourful, dreadlocks) is requested. Flexible vegetarians are welcomed but unfortunately, we are not able to host strict vegetarians (vegan). Please accept our apology that we are not able to host volunteers with mental disabilities or people with mobility and movement impairments, such as a limitation on physical functioning, blindness, deftness, epilepsy, sleep disorders etc.) |
LocationThese projects are located in Central Java. The terminal of arrival: Semarang Airport, railway station (Volunteer is NOT ALLOWED to buy a flight ticket before getting the visa and confirmation from the host organization). |
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)The accommodation and food will be provided by the host project. The volunteer will stay at local host family or at a dormitory (to be confirmed). The volunteer may have an own room or share a room and other facilities with host family members. Facilities are simple and Indonesian style (no hot water, no washing machine). |
