Brief description and main aims

Hogar Posada de Belen's main aims are to:
  • Host children in scholar age that have been abandoned - provide a safe place in which they can grow up away from gangs, and provide a good environment so they can feel love and calm.
  • Grant spaces for family reunification - provide workshops about the importance of family, with an emphasize in Christianity, so relationships can be improved.
  • Provide solidarity and support to children and families so they can overcome tough times.

Main Activities

The project has some activities such as: hosting home for children, show them to pray and find guidance on christianity, academic advising, provide academic material and spaces to study, provide quality food, health services and meds, psychological assistance and workshops, offer recreational spaces, create cultural spaces and encourage dialogue and training seminars for parents.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer will be an academic assistance by running workshops or assisting the children with the homework as well as being part of the daily activities such as playing with the children, prepare food, cleaning etc. They will also manage the social media communication for the project.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should be at least 18 years old, have intermediate Spanish knowledge and some experience working with children.

Location

Posada de Belen is located at the center of Callao, near Peru’s most important port. It is a city with some social conflicts.

The volunteer will either live in the project or with a host family.
