Brief description and main aims

The aims of Vemos con el Corazon are the following:

• Help to develop independent and productive citizens through customized curriculum to educate people with visual impairments, and by awakening in them the need to set goals and create new expectations
• Contribute to the educational, employment and social inclusion of people with visual disabilities
• Raise awareness about the current problems of people with visual disabilities

Main Activities

• Give workshops to visually impaired people with limited economic resources
• The workshops offered are the following: oratory, theater, computing, cooking, crafts, singing, music, braille, yoga, photography,etc.
• Accompany students in different events outside the institution
• Help to organize fundraising events, such as the Athletic Race and Dinner in the Dark
• Help to promote the organization through student events

Volunteer tasks

• Support teachers in the workshops offered at the institution
• Look after children and youth when entering and leaving school and at lunchtime
• Support the various activities and events of the institution, such as Christmas, civic ceremonies, visits to museums, fundraising events, etc.
• Support with the marketing and promotion of activities

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should be:

• Patient and tolerant
• Empathetic
• Creative
• Flexible
• Willing to work with people with visual impairment

Location

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
