Brief description and main aims

The aim of “Valora” is to promote the development of skills and abilities of youth and adults with autism through various psycho-educational activities, personalized programs, specialized methodology, evaluation, diagnosis, and close work with families, so they can live happily in different social environments. The families come from all social ranks, but at least 60% of them are poor.

Main Activities

SPECIAL CARE PROGRAM CHILDREN: It consists of intensive interventions designed to address the particular needs of each child. Experts in the project combine behavioral and humanistic methods such as TEACCH, lPECS, ABA, among others. The result is specialized programs that address all aspects of child development, including language, social relations and behavior. These programs provide support as the axis of teamwork with the families of these children.

Remote Mode:
Valora has distance learning programs for students who cannot attend the center because of financial reasons.

SCHOOL INTEGRATION: Through this program, students who have a higher degree of progress, are partially integrated (at first) to individual and private schools.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOPS BEGINNERS: With the aim of contributing to the insertion of the beneficiaries to the workforce, the project offers training and workshops. This program has managed to start training with 10 children in manual skills (embroidery and weaving) and cooking (chopped and food production). It aims to ensure equal opportunities and ensure the full enjoyment of human rights.

AWARENESS AND TRAINING: Valora train parents, school's members, and others to assure social participation in the topic.

RESEARCH:
We collaborate and participate in national and international research with univeristies and other organizations.

GRANTS:
Valora is an institution that has been able to estimate the needs of families who have a child with autism, especially if the family does not have the financial resources to cover the expenses generated by it. To meet these needs, Valora has generated economic projects, infrastructure, equipment, training, among others; with the firm intention of helping children, youth and adults with autism to improve their living conditions.

Volunteer tasks

• Help in the development of children with autism

• One-on-one work with children
• Guide children in their learning and socialization process
• Receive training for the job
• Help children in their homework
• On Tuesdays, the volunteer will help in the gym
• On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays the volunteer will help in the workshops imparted to older students
• The volunteer will keep and present reports

Location

The project is located in Puebla. 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
