Brief description and main aims

The project aims to provide day care for babies, academic help, and extracurricular activities to older children who work, mostly on the street or markets, and to support their families.

Main Activities

Volunteer tasks

• Be part of the team
• Take care of the children (from one year old and up)
• Help with homework, serving lunch and the educational part of the day
• Pay with the kids during free time
• Help with field trips and various activities and summer camps that are held in August
• Help to plan and prepare various events for the parents

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:

• Have a good level of Spanish
• Be preferably 22-25 years old and experienced in teaching
• Be willing to work with children from poor families
• Be interested in social issues
• Be creative, proactive and hardworking
• Be willing to participate in a wide range of tasks. 

Location

The Project is located in three different parts of Quito, the first being in the Mariscal area, the northern center of Quito. The area is very touristic, with lots of bars and night-life. Most of the parents work around there. The second one is located in San Roque, in the historical center of Quito (also a very touristic area) and the third one: Chiriyacu, Carollo and Mayorista are located in the South. 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
