Brief description and main aims

Cannosa Kindergarten was envisioned by the Canon sisters in 1972. It offers children holistic and integral development starting from an early age. The school started with 30 children and has now over 50 children.

The Kindergarten has grown with a lot of strength and is on an ever-increasing demand. The children are hosted and taught in a very clean and stimulating environment with an academic record to be proud of.

Main Activities

The school aims to build a strong academic life foundation for early aged children through participatory approaches that develop learners mentally, socially, physically and emotionally. Another objective is to give them confidence, independence and teach them about the love of God. The school is run under Catholic norms. 

Volunteer tasks

Some of the volunteer's tasks include:
  • Teaching children how to read and write
  • Drawing and painting with the children
  • Practicing sport and playing games with the children 
  • Music, drama and dance activities
  • Serving food  

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The Volunteer should be able to do all these things:

  • Love children
  • Play with the children
  • Speak English
  • Work as a part of a team
  • Be able to teach and paint 
  • Be willing to take on responsibilities

The volunteer should dress appropriately for work.

Location

The school is located in a semi urban area, 5km from Kampala city center.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will stay with a host family, sharing everything with the family but having their own room.
