Everest Innovative School is a Private English school that offers schooling from playground to ninth grade. The aim of the program is to provide strong English language and speaking environment for children and youth and develop their English communication and writing skills.
The school works to provide a better education to children from the community. The community started the school themselves and are in charge of collecting money to keep it running. This school has 102 students and 16 staff members.
The volunteer will be teaching English, as prescribed by the school, and co-coordinating with local English teacher. Volunteers will organize various learning extracurricular activities through students for example, health and civic education, games, drawing, painting, sports activities, quiz contest, awareness raising activities in the community through students, debate, music class etc.
Play educational games with kids:
Develop activities according to the students needs, prioritizing listening and speaking classes.
Go hiking, go on an educational tour, and other activities. So that students can have a real experience in their learning.
Be a role model. Smoking and drinking in front of students is prohibited.
Teach extra English language classes for students if they eager to learn either after school or in holidays. (for example if the school is closed).

Volunteer requirements / Skills
Be at least 20 years.
Show enthusiasm, ability to maintain motivation and reliability.
Show creativity and initiative when planning and taking part of the project's activities.
Have confidence in their knowledge of the subject they will be teaching.
Have great management skills to ensure an effective support.
Everest Innovative School is located in Bafal,Tahachal, Kathmandu.
The community is made up off new people from the other side of the country and by local people. Volunteers can observe local festivals & are exposed to diversity because more than 25 caste people live here with their own cultural foundation.
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)
Volunteers will stay at the hostel which is located 30 minutes away from the school (walking). Hostel personnel will provide accommodation and food for the volunteers and they need to share rooms with volunteers of other nationalities.
Volunteers will have their lunch at the school at 01:00pm and dinner at the hostel between 7:30 and 8:00 pm. Food is local style, cooked by a Nepali family. The main types of food will be rice, lentil soup vegetables and pickle. However, once a week the host family will cook meat during lunch or dinner.
For vegetarians the choice is usually limited to vegetables, lentil soup and pickle.
A maximum of 4 volunteers can work at this project. Volunteers need to check with the hosting organization in advance to see if the project is still available.
