The school was founded under the Catholic Church in the community of Gayaza parish and the entire town of Gayaza aiming to solve the problem of high illiteracy. The school works to gove its students quality education that enables them to be self-reliant, innovative and God fearing. Our activities are teaching, learning, renovation, and co-curricular activities.
Currently, the school has children aged between 4 and 14, from kindergarten and P.1-P.7. The school has 769 pupils, 52 teaching staff members and 13 support staff members with 12 members on the school management committee.
The school's main activities include:
Reading and writing
Drawing and painting
Playing games and practicing sports
Learning music, dance and drama
Playing with children
Gardening and farming
The volunteer's tasks include:
assist teachers in classes of the little ones
engage in games and sports and other extra co-curricular activities
interact with the children of all ages
assist in all ways or as assigned by the supervisor
Volunteers should also carry descent clothes to wear while on the school compound, since we are working with young children in this environment but after school the volunteer can wear his or her causal clothes.

The volunteer should:
be able to communicate in English
be able to adjust to our culture
be free and open minded
be a good communicator
love to teach or see him or herself teaching in the future
be interested in sports
be social and able to interact with all the community members
We can host both male and female volunteers, but females are preferred, aged 19 and above.
The school is located about 12km from Kampala city.
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)
The volunteer will live within the school with their own accommodation, breakfast and meals are served by the school.
