Brief description and main aims

The project is a kindergarten that was started 7 years ago to help promote education in the area. It accommodates both girls and boys.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer's tasks include:

  • School Activities
  • Teaching
  • Reading, drawing and painting
  • Games and sports
  • Music, dance, drama

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers should:
  • Be hard working to really fit in with the school system.
  • Love children and be able to work with them in class, during relaxing sessions, during play time and during  breakfast  (and during lunch for those who stay longer or untill the afternoon)
  • Go with the school van to pick up kids from their homes and also drop off.
  • Work with other teachers i.e. assisting teachers in class in and outside classrooms.
  • Participate in music, dance and drama, sports and class energizers with the kids.

We can host both male and female volunteers who are 18 and 30 years old.

Location

The kindergarten is located in Makindye, a Kampala suburb 5km from Kampala.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Our volunteers live with a host family, share everything with the rest of the family but have their own room. 

More Information

Volunteers get a sim card for their phones and through the sim card, they get mobile phone internet.

Our volunteers are given a chance to be creative and be able to introduce or initiate ideas of their own that can benefit both school and their personal growth.
