Brief description and main aims

Belthorn Primary School has 230 students, in between the ages of 7-14, with a staff of 10-12,  it is a school in a disadvantaged area that has been in service for more than 30 years.

• Arts and crafts activities
• Reading programmes
• Sports development
• Dace: ballet, hip-hop, contemporary dance
• After school programme
• Music development
• Outdoor activities like gardening or making vegetable patches
• Enviormental awareness activties
• Teach english as a second languae
• Assist with the general administration

Volunteer requirements / Skills

• We prefer Volunteers with English knowledge
• Experience in sports, dance, music, enviormental program, arts and crafts.
• The volunteer must be a team player.
• Ability to organise and implement activties and programs.
• Have a passion for education

Location

The school is situated in an area called Athlone community whom most people there speak Afrikaans and English. It is about 15km away from the city centre (Cape Town) driving.

Duration

Minimum: 4 weeks

Maximum: 16 Weeks

Host family.

Internet is widely available for usage at the school and in small internet cafes.
