Brief description and main aimsThe aim of the project is to promote formal education and learning, assist local lecture, teach English to the students, and to stimulate intercultural learning. |
Main ActivitiesDejavato has cooperated with some universities in Indonesia. Having a good partnership with the local and international partners, Dejavato would like to continue this cooperation of hosting international volunteers. The presence of the volunteers are appreciated by the university community in order to motivate the students to actively use foreign languages. Furthermore, interaction between the students and volunteers can enhance their cultural knowledge and experience. |
Volunteer tasksThe role of the volunteer will be assisting local lecturer in holding English lessons, organizing activities, such as culture exchange, presentations, seminars, workshops and promoting voluntary service etc. Moreover, the presence of volunteers could give them motivation in practicing their foreign language knowledge. Intercultural learning in the form of a dialogue, music and games could give the student better understanding of another culture. |
Volunteer requirements / Skills
The volunteer should love to work with young people and be open-minded, mature, respectful of local customs, tolerant, creative, flexible, patient, confident and independent. The volunteer should also be willing to accept basic living conditions in the project site.
The volunteer should have never been found guilty in a criminal case. It is strictly prohibited to possess narcotics, marijuana, opium, stimulants or other drugs. The volunteer should not have piercings on the face and no visible tattoos. A common hairstyle (not colourful, dreadlocks) is requested. Flexible vegetarians are welcomed but unfortunately, we are not able to host strict vegetarians (vegan). Please accept our apology that we are not able to host volunteers with mental disabilities or people with mobility and movement impairments, such as a limitation on physical functioning, blindness, deftness, epilepsy, sleep disorders etc.) |
LocationThese projects are located on Java Island. The terminal of Arrival: Semarang Airport, railway station (Volunteer is NOT ALLOWED to buy a flight ticket before getting the visa and confirmation from the host organization). |
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)The accommodation and food will be provided by host project. The volunteer will stay with a local host family or at a dormitory (to be confirmed). Facilities are simple and Indonesian style (no hot water, no washing machine). |
