Chicos de la Calle "Granja Don Bosco de Ambato" (Proyecto Salesianos) (ECU-15)

Type: Socially Excluded Groups: Street children - Country: Ecuador

Brief description and main aims

The project offers services to children and adolescents who lived and worked on the street and are in a situation of risk. We provide  education, food and shelter in order to improve their living conditions and reintegrate them into their families.

Main Activities

In the morning, the boys go to primary or high school in the local community. At 1pm they return to have lunch. Additionally, around 80 boys and girls from the local schools of the area come to the center to have lunch and do their homework until 3:30pm. In the afternoon, the boys of the center participate in sports, farming and livestock projects. All meals are eaten at the project.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer will help in the execution of all the proposed activities, such as serving food, supervising the children and helping them with their homework. They will also take on a mentor role for the children and will share almost the entire day with them. At lunch time, they serve food and help the children with their homework.
