Brief description and main aims

The house provides a safe environment for rural children and teenagers that are coming to Lima to receive health treatments, most of them related with oncological cases, heart problems or complicated diseases.

Main Activities

To provide a house for those that do not have a place while receiving treatment. It is a place where the children and their companions can rest, receive food and educational workshops. 

Volunteer tasks

Volunteers will have the following responsabilities: 

• Assist on daily activities related with the operation of the house (Helping in the kitchen, cook, control, report and stock the donations, take care of the children and families, etc.).
• To support and to be part of social events with the staff of the organization (sponsorships galas, fundraising events, social workshops, etc.)
• Be part of internal educational workshops, carry them and prepare them. Prepare games and recreational workshops for the children. 
• Assist local programs (prepared schedules, control and report the activities of the national volunteers, children and companions, etc.) Prepare the logistic for the workshops. 

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Spanish knowledge is desirable. The volunteer wil have to be proactive and organized, as well it will be important if the volunteer has experience working with a team and children.

Location

The project has two houses. One is located in Jesus Maria district, Casa Essalud, and the other one in Santiago de Surco district, Casa San Gabriel "Carla Salazar".

Santiago de Surcos and Jesus Maria are urban districts located in the center of Lima, both of them are known for being quiet and calm districts.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a Host Family.
