Brief description and main aims

Shree Punyakoti Vidya Samsthe was established in 2009 at Chamarahalli by Mr. Govindappa, a   man born and raised in Chamarahalli. 

Since he was 10 years old he noticed many government schools were closing due to lack of funds and lack of teachers. Parents from around 10 villages were really worried about their child's future because in order to provide their children a better education then they would have had to travel 25 km away from the village. This is why he established Shree Punyakoti Vidya Samsthe.

Mr. Govindappa and a group of friends planned to start a small school with quality education in the same village where children of middle and poor families can attend. Since the school was founded it has aimed to improve the rural education system and educate the children.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers should have English teaching skills and a positive attitude. We don’t have any age and gender priority.

Location

The school is  situated in a calm area surrounded by farming land in Chamarahalli. Bangalore is around 85 km away. People are very friendly and helpful. Our basic economical source is agriculture - we grow vegetables, flowers and wheat.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family. Food will be provided by the host family who use their own organic vegetables.
