Brief description and main aimsEscuela Urbana Mixta “Monseñor Turcios” is a governmental/public school for approximately 500 children and youth, aged 6-13, of the rural community of Pespire, which offers primary education prior to the commencement of high school. The school’s main objectives are to provide high-quality education and help the development of the community Pespire. |
Main ActivitiesThe school teaches all the subjects of the primary education curricula for grades 1-6, it promotes the importance of education for development, and works to maintain good facilities in order to have a healthy environment for its students, offering different sports and music formation opportunities. |
Volunteer tasksThe volunteer is a teacher assistant, helping to organise the different classrooms. The volunteer can:
Pespire has a well-organised group of Girl Guides, therefore the volunteer can also get involved in the activities they carry out (view the placement description of the Project ‘Asociación Nacional de Muchachas Guías de Honduras’).

Volunteer requirements / Skills
The volunteer should:
Basic knowledge of Spanish and English is an asset.
No particular studies is required, but pedagogic knowledge is appreciated.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)The volunteer will live with a host family. |
