Brief description and main aims

We are a media-development, capacity-building non-governmental organization coordinated by experienced development journalists.The organization is a product of series of development projects on media (both print and broadcast – including video documentaries, drama for development and radio productions) health promotion, advocacy and capacity building in the Nigerian mass media and the civil society sector from 1995 to date.

The organisation became fully registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on May 27, 2002.

Main Activities

DevComs is playing a leading role in promoting public health, science and social development communications in Nigeria to ensure an informed society and better policies that affect the people of Nigeria. Our Mission is to strengthen public and independent media sector to reach its full potential for availability, accessibility and meaningful utilization of science, public health, and social development information for sustainable human development.

Volunteer tasks

  • Volunteer will work 9.00 am – 4.00pm with 1 hour break
  • Volunteers will work with staff on various community projects, field visits and write ups with journalists
  • Volunteers who have passion for journalism, Media work and Health issues write ups
 
   

Volunteer requirements / Skills

  • Volunteer should be able to write very well in English and should be able to communicate in English
  • No specific skill required
  • Above 20 years old

Location

The project is located in Surulere Lagos State. 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Volunteers will stay with a host family. Food will be provided by the family and transportation/lunch allowance will be provided by the project.
