Brief description and main aims

IDA is an audiological institute and a public college for young people who have some sensorial-audiological deficiency. The institute offers high quality special education and does a lot of labor therapy.

Main Activities

The institute offers the children a possibility to study and develop special skills, which will be helpful for their self-development in order for them to be able to live normal lives in the society.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer works along with the regular staff in the school. During the day the volunteer is expected to support and help the teacher-therapist in the classroom, assist in everyday activities and participate in artistic and creative workshops.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:

  • be able to work as a team player
  • be intrested in childcare
  • have manual skills
  • have patience and a lot of initiative
  • have the will and ability to deal and work with deaf children
  • be open-minded and social
  • be tolerant
  • be creative
  • be willing to learn sign language quickly

Location

The project is located in Cochabamba.

The volunteer will live wither with a host family or in the project.
