Brief description and main aims

Concerns Universe Foundation (CUF) is a registered trust working for the underprivileged children and women since 2001 in Bangalore.

Our focus is to promote  education and optimum health, through different programs. Our main aim is to make women economically independent and socially dignified. We work towards reducing school dropouts and support children to continue education. We have preschools, tuition centres and community college and also health awareness programs.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer is expected to:
  • teach basic English to young women.
  • teach basic computing to young women.
  • participate in preschool educational program.
  • support the tuition programs.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should :
  • be a woman at least 21 years old.
  • know how to teach English and basic computing.
  • be flexible.
  • follow values of the community and be sensitive about the poor.

Location

We work among the underprivileged (urban poor), who are daily labourers and women who work as maid servants. We work with a few communities in East Bangalore, who have migrated from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and rural Karnataka. Most of them are illiterates or semi-literates.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
