Brief description and main aims

Seocho YMCA was founded in 1994 and it belongs to Seoul YMCA. It is a physical education center which is available to some of Songpa's community.

Its' aim is to create a healthy learning enviroment for children where they enjoy learning.

Main Activities

Multi-faceted courses like
  • swimming
  • painting
  • gymnastics
  • pottery
  • computers
  • English conversation
  • outdoor exercises
  • many more activities.

Volunteer tasks

To work as a teaching assistant in the classes.  The volunteer takes part in different educational and leisure activities, such as sports, arts & crafts, trips, etc. In some occasions, volunteers are required to help out with social activities, camps, charity bazaars, etc.

A little bit of care work is involved, such as helping kids change their clothes for special activities, feeding them, etc.

Working hours: about 35 hours per week (Monday through Friday).

Volunteer requirements / Skills

  • The volunteer should be active, creative, patient, out-going and interested in working with
  • Preferably a volunteer who is willing to learn Korean quickly.
  • Volunteer needs to be flexible and willing to carry out a variety of tasks.
  • Volunteer should be interested in sports, music, arts etc.
  • Volunteer must be female aged between 22-27

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The Volunteer will live in the YMCA Hotel (with a roommate).
