Manage an organic farm that serves as a model for others in the region.

  • clearing land
  • preparation of soil
  • planting and harvesting crops
  • permaculture
  • hosting groups for ecotourism activities
  • reforestation

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer is expected to :
  • feed the chickens and harvest their eggs
  • milk the cows
  • weed the beds
  • make new beds for new plants including soil management
  • harvest vegetables
  • clean stables
  • creat compost
  • work in the tree nursery
  • clean different living and work areas
  • help out with reforestation

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should: 
  • be open-minded
  • like to do manual work outdoors 
  • have a strong desire to learn
  • be flexible on having a vegetarian diet
  • be comfortable living in a quiet, rural area with minimal internet connection.
The volunteer’s key characteristic should be enthusiasm.

Location

The farm is located In Tabacundo, about 1.5 hours from Quito. The farm of 20 hectares boasts panoramic views of the Andes. The farm is a small community of 2 families, and is located above the main community of around 40 families. It is well connected with frequent buses to Quito.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live in the volunteer house on the organic farm property with other volunteers. Household duties, including cooking, are shared. Most food comes directly from the farm (vegetarian).

Working hours are from 7:70 until 16:00 with an hour break.
