Brief description and main aims

Gasa sa Gugma is a community organization for the aged, dying and abandoned. It is run by the Missionaries of Charity (Sisters of Mother Theresa).

It aims to provide medical care to the aged, to assist staff members feeding the elderly and to provide short and long term stay in the facility for the aged and dying destitute.

Main Activities

The organization's main activities are:

  • Feeding the elders
  • Assisting staff members with the organization’s activities
  • Providing personal assistance to the elders

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer is expceted to:
  • Assist elders and the sisters in everyday activities
  • Assist with feeding and cleaning the elders
  • Create recreational activities for the elders or teach lessons in vacant time

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:
  • Be passionate about the work, and compassionate toward their fellow human beings.
  • Actively supports people in need, including orphans and indigent elderly hospice patients in our community.
  • Be flexible, open-minded and able to adapt to the local situation
  •  Have patience

Cabantan St., Mabolo, Cebu City

Duration

This is a short term project available year round.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live in an apartment (expect to have a shared room with other volunteers).
