Camp Hope (ECU-9)
|
Brief description and main aimsThe aim is too create a “haven” for disabled children, and to provide special therapy for them. |
Main ActivitiesThe project focuses on rehabilitation, and also provides medical services for the children as well as a house to live in. All of them are either orphans or their parents can’t take care of them, so they bring them to Camp Hope during the day. |
Volunteer tasksThe children are separated into 5 groups depending on their skills. With the younger children, volunteers will change diapers, bring them to bed, help them eat, etc. With older children, volunteers are helping with arts and crafts and play games to practice reading and writing. Depending on the preference, the volunteer can also help during therapy. |
Volunteer requirements / Skills
The volunteer should have basic Spanish knowledge, have a strong passion to help those in need, be dedicated and respect the Christian beliefs (although does not have to be Christian).
|
Location
Camp Hope is situated in the north of Quito (Carcelén), meanwhile “Casa Hogar”, where about half of the children live, is located in Carapungo (as well in the north).
|
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)The volunteer will live with a host family. |
