Brief description and main aims

The project works with the children and young adults affected with disability both physically and mentally some are severe others mild. It offers education, therapy, vocational training, feeding, and general rehabilitation services and empowering the disabled to be self-reliant. 

Main Activities

• Rescue, rehabilitation, re-socialization, reintegration of street children
• An in school project that promotes access to education, performance improvement and completion of basic education course for children from poor slum communities
• Access to justice and legal aid to families in distress
• Community empowerment programmes including promotion of agriculture as a tool for mitigating malnutrition, hunger and addressing poverty; employability skills for out of school youth
• Nutritional programme for supporting five hundred pupils in local primary schools

Volunteer requirements / Skills

We look forward to We look forward to hosting volunteers who have interest in education, law, environment, social work and agriculture.

The volunteer should:

• Be able to communicate in English
• Be a well-behaved person who respects others
• Ready to learn
   

Location

AfCiC works at the heart of the community with the rural and urban poor. Thika is an industrial town and therefore a home to people from different parts of Eastern Africa. 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Volunteer will live within the project.
