Brief description and main aims

It is an organization seeking to provide support for people living and affected by HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

Main Activities

The main activities include:

• Psychosocial assistance to people living or affected by HIV/AIDS
• Providing food and clothes to those in really need, providing food supplement to children with low level of nutrition
• Training people how to take care of people with HIV on their later stage, providing home  daily care to people with HIV as well as promoting awareness campaigns in order to prevent the spread of HIV 

Volunteer tasks

The international volunteers will be working with the local community activist in following:

• Providing psychosocial support to people living or affected by HIV/AIDS
• Working with local children in different activities like schooling, homework, daycare, etc.
• Organizing and running workshop for the local communities on infectious diseases
• Promoting awareness campaigns in order to prevent the spread of HIV in schools and local markets
• Advocating for the human rights of people living with HIV/AIDS

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should:

• Be dynamic, creative, trustworthy and flexible
• Interested in being involved with the local community
• Like to work with children
• Be able to easily adapt to the given situations and conditions

Location

The project is located in one of the suburbs of Maputo. Some services and facilities are provided in the area. It is a very safe area and easily accessible by local transport.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
