Brief description and main aims

The ICYE Honduras Office Project is the opportunity for an international volunteer to directly support the staff members of ICYE Honduras. ICYE Honduras is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, a full member of the ICYE Federation, with exchange programmes that offer the opportunity to acquire intercultural competence through a non-formal education process involving intercultural learning and ethical international voluntary service.

Main Activities

The organisation has an Outgoing programme to send Honduran volunteers abroad, and an Incoming programme to host international volunteers in Honduras. It also has a Volunteers programme, with which Honduran volunteers who have already participated abroad are encouraged to help in Honduras during training camps and to raise funds for the Scholarships programme of ICYE Honduras, which supports low-income students in order to continue their studies in school.

Volunteer tasks

Currently ICYE Honduras is seeking for a volunteer who has an educational background and/or work experience in the fundraising field in order to develop the Scholarships programme of ICYE Honduras. This would include tasks such as:

  • organising files and databases of sponsored students, their families and schools
  • creating campaigns to encourage sponsorships
  • developing strategies to raise funds
  • organising events and activities
The volunteer will also assist the staff members of the Outgoing and Incoming programmes, especially as a community manager, handling the different social media accounts of the organisation.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer should :
  • be at least 21 years old.
  • have good knowledge of Spanish
  • be fluent in English
  • preferrably have some knowledge and/or experience with the coordination of youth groups, social work, fundraising, and formulation of projects.
  • be a mature person
  • be responsible and flexible
  • have computer skills (Windows package, website administration and community management).

Location

The project is located in Tegucigalpa, Francisco Morazán.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.

The project is available to start in August and February every year for 6-12 months.
