Brief description and main aims

“La Caleta” is a temporary home for street children all around Ecuador.

Main Activities

At night and in the mornings, the project is a house for kids living in situations of poverty, violence or street work. An average of 20 kids stay there.
 
In the afternoon, the house is also open for children in the neighborhood and their families. They come to receive help with their homework, nutrition and medical attention. 

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer will be part of the “Salesianos” team. She or He will be confronted with different kinds of work. Cleaning, sometimes office work, helping with homework, practicing sports and being part of everyday life. For this reason, she or he needs to be a very open-minded and flexible person.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteer needs/should:
  • have patience
  • like to spend time with children and teenagers
  • be able to confront difficult situations
  • have medium Spanish skills

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a Host family.
