Brief description and main aims

Integra is a non-profit association, which works with people with mental health problems (Down Syndrome, Autism, etc.). The project assists its clients from the time they turn 18. Integra trains its beneficiaries in order to integrate them into the job force. 

Main Activities

Integra trains the individuals in three economic activities:

1. Production of sanitary towels
2. Manufacture of party articles
3. Elaboration of “piñatas”

Volunteer tasks

• Take care of mental disabled people. Be with them, talk to them, supervise them while they do their tasks.
• Help them improve their manual skills.
• Supervise manufacturing of sanitary towels: check the envelops, check if they were packed right, check the number of sanitary napkins per package, help them in the process when someone requires it.
• Supervise manufacturing of party articles: help  clean the cans, supervise people who are cutting the paper, check that each article was made properly
• Supervise the elaboration of “piñatas”: check that all the material are available, check each piñata, help them in the process when someone requires it.
• Administration: help with administrative work, help the youngsters in the process when they require it.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The project does not ask for any technical or manual skills, but they prefer if the volunteer speaks a little bit of Spanish because no one in the project speaks another language.

Location

The project is located in Puebla. 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
