Brief description and main aims

CERECO is a non-profit organization that aims to take care of young people with physical and/or mental disorders who come from a background of low economic resources. The center offers many activities for people of different economic levels.

Main Activities

Besides providing basic education, CERECO also provides training and qualification in seven specific areas:

  1. carpentry
  2. ceramics
  3. bakery
  4. seam
  5. gardening
  6. weaves
  7. art and carving
The other main area of intervention is physical education, which is believed to be fundamental for human development, carried out by professionals who work to reach high achievements, such as participation of the disabled in the Olympic games.

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer is expected to:

  • help carry out daily routine
  • provide care assistance
  • organize extra activities and workshops
  • help in daily drawing/art classes

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers must be older than 18 and preferred backgrounds are in education, manual skills, psychology, sports or knowledge in nutrition. The volunteer should be patient, able to deal with children and have skills in organizing and running games for them.

Location

The project is located in Cochabamba.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
