Brief description and main aims

To benefit the young people physically, socially and spiritually, providing an outdoor experience to enhance self-esteem, communication and co-operation.

Volunteer tasks

A rotation of tasks including program assistant, catering and serving, grounds and building maintenance, cleaning and logistics and instructing activities.

Three camps operate under the Lake Taupo Christian Trust – including the Mi Camp Taupo, Mi Camp
Whakamaru and Mi Camp Ruapehu. Volunteers will be based fulltime in either Taupo or Whakamaru camps, which will be assigned by the managers. There will be times where all staff work together.

Volunteer requirements / Skills

Volunteers need to be energetic and enthusiastic. Candidates need to come with a joyful spirit, a ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to fit in wherever needed.

Skills in any of the following areas would be an advantage

  • outdoor pursuits 
  • kitchen hand
  • working with young people
  • social media
  • video and design
  • maintenance
  • administration
  • hosting visitors

Location

Whakamaru & Turangi (Lake Taupo), North Island

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Food provided in camp. Accommodation provided within a flatting situation with other volunteers.

More Information

Number of ACVE volunteers in project: 2-6 - male or female.
 
Your own car would be beneficial as camps are located rurally, at least 30 minutes from nearest towns with no public transport.
