About the Project
The Sol en Casa Foundation is a non-profit entity dedicated to supporting children and young people with special abilities, aiming to improve their living conditions and promote their inclusion in education, work, social life, and artistic endeavors. Its mission specifically targets individuals with mental deficiencies, Down syndrome, Autism, and other similar conditions. The foundation provides comprehensive and professional care through a team of highly trained health and disability professionals.
The foundation’s Therapeutic and Educational Center offers daily educational programs and artistic workshops for children and teenagers. These activities include cooking, music therapy, yoga, meditation, handicraft, and baking, all designed to enhance participants’ abilities and autonomy. The therapeutic and educational activities also encompass drawing, dancing, singing, music, developing everyday life skills, sports, bread making, theater, and assisting in a pizzeria. These programs are available to children and teenagers who live with their families in Sucre, come from diverse social and economic backgrounds, and represent various communities, many of whom have experienced societal discrimination. The foundation also works to raise societal awareness about the situation of people with mental disabilities in Bolivia.
