About

The International College of Thaksin university was officially established in June 2021. The international college at the Songkhla campus has eight facilities with about 10,000 students. International volunteers will mainly assist with the first year of college with its 200 students. There are about 50 students per class. There will be a teacher/professor in each subject who the volunteers will work with. You will also have the chance to work with the Humanities and Sociology faculty at Thaksin University – mainly (attending class activities) and the Folklore museum which is structured under the university.

Location

Thaksin University is a public university located in Songkhla province – the biggest province in Southern Thailand. It is located along the sea and the only lake in Thailand. There are about 200,000 residents in town with 171.9 sqr.km.

Accommodation

Participants will stay at the university dormitory in a shared room and with shared bath rooms. There are common rooms. Volunteers will receive budget for food. Breakfast and dinner will be at the university canteen and Lunch at the working place.

Volunteer Tasks

Volunteers are the key persons to encourage the students, teachers and local community to speak English in daily life. They learn English in the class but only reading and writing and therefore lack opportunities to speak.

The volunteers will support with teaching and preparing lessons in the teacher’s room. In addition, the volunteers will participate in school activities such as Sports Day, Buddhist Day, and more.

There will be 2 schools which are Ban Krogluek School and Ban Maab Grad School in which the volunteers assist. You will meet different classes each day. So the activities you prepare can be used similarly in both school and each class.
