About

The project supports disadvantaged children and youth, e.g. street children and prepares them for future challenges. The project activities include: sewing, cooking, languages literacy, drawing and sports, supporting with school material and raising scholarships.

Location

The project is located in one of the suburbs of Maputo, a residential area. Some services and facilities are provided in the area. The area is very safe, with easy access by local transport.

Accommodation

Volunteers will stay with local host families.

Please note that you will be required to sign ICYE’s policy Care to Engage on Safeguarding Children.

Volunteer Tasks

• Planning activities with the children in- and outdoors
• Recreation
• Assisting the children with their homework
• Some of the work is done inside the community and involves identifying and registering children in need

Volunteer Requirements

• Be dynamic, creative, trustworthy, flexible
• Have experience working with differently abled children
• Be able to easily adapt to the local conditions
• Be able to teach different games and sports to children
