Brief description and main aims

Pro Down looks to improve the quality of life of children with Down Syndrome through education. It's an association created by the parents of the children with Down Syndrome. Some ofthe families attending the project have scarce resources. The project offers grants to children of these families.

Main Activities

The school's main activities include:

  • Taking care of children and young people with Down's Syndrome
  • Providing an education to the children and young people 
  • Improving relationships between the child and the family
  • Helping children in their daily activities

Volunteer tasks

The volunteer is expected to :
  • Provide general support to teachers, psychologists, therapists and all staff in the school
  • Help with the feeding of the children
  • Supervise children during game time

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The volunteers must:
  • Have a passion for children and education
  • Be patient, tolerant and flexible with children

Location

The project is located in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. 

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
