About the Project

SINAMUNE is a specialized center dedicated to fostering social inclusion and personal development for children, youth, and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities through a comprehensive program of music, art, and inclusive education. Utilizing music therapy, orchestra training, painting, dance, and basic academic instruction, SINAMUNE aims to empower its beneficiaries. The center features two orchestras: a main performing orchestra and a beginner’s ensemble, where students learn various instruments and, upon developing skills, join the orchestras for daily practice and preparation for monthly concerts and presentations. Beyond musical training, students also participate in specialized classes, including a weekly gym class at a pool and regular physical education sessions. It’s important to note that while many students are biologically adults, their cognitive development may lead them to express themselves or behave child-like.

Volunteer Tasks

Depending on the skills of the volunteer, they may assist with the orchestra and teach music class (piano, clarinet, guitar or flute).

The volunteer also supports the teachers in the different classes and activities the students perform. At the end of the day the volunteer accompanies the students in the school bus that brings them home.

Volunteer Requirements

It would be an advantage if the volunteer has some experience working with differently abled people and, musical knowledge. However, SINAMUNE is open for all those volunteers who are willing to share this experience

Volunteers are expected to engage with individuals who require extra support and attention. Respect, consistency, patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm are key values.

Child Protection
