Seocho YMCA is a physical education center. The project offers children and youth the opportunity to engage in a variety of sports.

Project Aim

The projects contributes to creating a healthy environment for children where they enjoy learning and doing sports.

Project Activities

  • Multi-faceted courses like swimming, soccer, inline skating.
  • Outdoor exercises and other activities.

Location

The centre is located in the community of Seocho-gu in South Korea’s capital Seoul.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteer should be active, show initiative, be patient, out-going and interested in working with children.
  • The project prefers volunteers who are willing to learn the Korean language quickly.
  • Volunteers need to be flexible and willing to carry out a variety of tasks.
  • Volunteers should be interested in sports.

Volunteer Tasks

The volunteers will work as teaching assistants in the classes. They take part in different educational and leisure activities, mainly sports and English lessons. In some occasions, volunteers are required to help out with social activities, camps and trips. There is also care work involved, such as helping kids dress for special activities, support them with their meals.
