Seobu YMCA is a education center in Sangam-dong community. It offers different sports to children and young people in the community.

Project Aim

The project contributes to creating a healthy environment for children where they enjoy learning and being physically active.

Project Activities

  • The centre offers a variety of courses for children and youth in swimming, gymnastic, painting, pottery, computer, English conversation.
  • Children and youth can also engage in outdoor exercises.
  • The volunteer will be working in the kindergarten where the young children are offered swimming, drawing, art, writing classes, gymnastics, taekwondo, math,
    play-time and English language classes.

Location

The centre is in Mapo-gu, Seoul

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers should be pro-active, take initiative, be patient, out-going and interested in working
    with children.
  • They should be willing to learn the Korean language quickly.
  • Volunteers need to be flexible and willing to carry out a variety of tasks.
  • Volunteers should be interested in sports, music, arts, etc.

Volunteer Tasks

Volunteers will work as teaching assistants in the classes and take part in different educational and leisure activities, such as sports, arts a& crafts, trips, etc. Volunteers are also required to help out with other social activities, camps, charity bazzars, etc. They should be prepared to support with care work, such as helping kids dress for special activities, help them with their meals. The volunteers will rotate between the 5 kindergarten classes through the week. Each
class will have a different schedule depending on the age of kids.
