About the Project
The San Juan Mining District, Ushpa-Ushpa, located 10 km southeast of Cochabamba, is home to approximately 1,500 families living in extreme poverty with limited access to basic services. The Horizon Project – Uspha Uspha, founded in 2004 by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is a non-profit social welfare institution addressing the community’s poverty by providing protection, education, medical care, and feeding for children.
Key activities and centers include:
- Health Centre “Mineros San Juan”: Providing medical care.
- Comprehensive Educational Centre Initial Training and Education Unit “St. Vincent de Paul”: Offering educational services.
- Group of Women, “TANTAKUNA”: Empowering women in the community.
- Sports and Culture Groups: Engaging children, youth, and adults in sports and cultural activities.
- Department of Micro Finance and Micro Enterprise Development: Supporting economic development through microfinance and microenterprise initiatives.
