About the Project
Performing Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering street youth by providing them with the tools for a sustainable future. They achieve this by teaching arts as productive skills, aiming to steer youth away from drugs and delinquency while improving their economic, social, and personal well-being, as well as that of their families and communities.
The organization works with two distinct groups:
- Children and Youth who work on the streets to support themselves or their families.
- Children and Youth who are working and living on the streets.
The core of Performing Life’s mission lies in its Performing Arts Classes. These classes offer free instruction in disciplines like juggling, diabolo, and poi. The goal is for youth to leverage these skills to increase their income, thereby gaining more time for education. Music is also a significant creative focus for youth living and working on the streets.
Additionally, the Bracelet Program is a youth-managed enterprise where participants create bracelets for sale. The Youth Home component aims to provide creative activities that assist youth in transitioning from street life into a more stable environment within a Youth Home.
