About

This project was founded by local communities in Puerto Limón, Putumayo. Its main aim is to share knowledge about the culture of the Inga Indigenous community and to highlight the importance of nature and the environment in their way of life. The community itself serves as the primary source of this knowledge. Ñambi Waira’s project seeks to promote the region by showcasing the cultural traditions of both the Inga Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities, as well as the unique natural environment found in the area. To achieve this, the project offers ecotourism activities as a dynamic and experiential way of learning. The initiative works with both local community members and visitors to the region, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and environmental awareness.

Location

Puerto Limón is a small town located in the valley of the Caquetá and Mocoa rivers, with a population of approximately 1,381 people. It has a tropical rainforest climate, with heavy rainfall throughout the year, as it lies on the edge of the Amazon region. This area is home to Inga Indigenous communities. The project brings together members of these communities, who work collectively to share their cultures and raise awareness about the importance of the environment. The project is characterized by a close-knit, family-like dynamic, reflecting the strong sense of community among its members.
