About

In 1972 Mr. Martin Kwaku Kumah was first introduced to farming by his grandmother during his primary school education. After completing his studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, he decided to pursue agriculture alongside his duties at the university. He acquired a farm at Anwomaso and began with poultry, small livestock, and crop farming. In 1988, he was awared as Best Farmer in the Kumasi Metropolis. In recognition of this honour and his continued service to the community, the chief of Anwomaso enstooled him as the Nkosohene (development chief) of Anwomaso and bestowed on him the stool name Nana Kwaku Siaw in January 2008.

Volunteer Tasks

The expected duties to be performed by volunteers includes:

• Assisting the workers on the farm in the daily roles.
• There are about four main department of the institution for which
  volunteers shall be rotated to work and learn
• Supportiong in livestock and crop farming, aqua- and apiculture

Volunteer Requirements

• There is no specific language skills required of volunteers except for basic
  English language skills
• Any interested volunteer is accepted
• Passion for the project

Accommodation

The farm has a hostel for students, volunteers, and other trainees. The hostel facilities have bed- and bathrooms, electricity, and water. There is also a restaurant in the farm.
