About the Project
Karise Specialefterskole is an efterskole for young people aged 14–18 with special needs, who need extra support in their everyday life and learning.
The school provides a safe and caring environment where each student can develop socially, personally, and academically at their own pace.
The atmosphere at Karise is calm, friendly, and full of encouragement. Students follow small classes with a high level of individual attention and practical, hands-on learning.
The school focuses on helping young people build confidence, independence, and strong relationships with others. Alongside academic subjects, students take part in creative, physical, and practical activities such as cooking, crafts, sport, and outdoor life.

Volunteer’s Tasks
As a volunteer, you will be part of the school’s community and support both learning and daily life at the efterskole. You might assist in workshops, creative or physical activities, or help with practical tasks around the school. Most importantly, you will spend time with the students — joining activities, listening, and helping them feel included and supported.
Depending on your interests and experience, you may also join classroom activities or help teachers prepare materials. You will always work closely with staff members and never be responsible for students on your own.
Volunteering at Karise Specialefterskole is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people who need extra care and understanding. It’s a place where kindness, patience, and genuine connection matter — and where you can grow personally while supporting others in their development.
