About the Project

The “Instituto Psicopedagógico Ciudad Joven San Juan de Dios” is a national institution dedicated to children and young people with disabilities and substance abuse problems. It provides specialized, integral, and humanitarian attention in health and education to individuals under 18 years old with physical and/or mental disabilities and drug addictions.

The institution has a multidisciplinary team focused on:

  • Care: Providing overall support.
  • Diagnosis: Identifying specific needs and conditions.
  • Treatment: Offering therapeutic interventions.
  • Rehabilitation: Assisting in recovery and regaining abilities.
  • Education: Providing educational services tailored to special needs.
  • Social Insertion: Aiming to reintegrate minors back into society.

The institute serves children aged 0 to 18 with special needs and drug addiction problems, with the ultimate goal of reintegrating them into society.

Volunteer Tasks

  • Help feeding the children and take care of them, take them to the doctor, help in educating and organizing leisure activities for the children and young people.
  • Volunteers may usually assist staff in the areas of pediatrics (with young children), psychiatry (children and young people with mental problems) and residential care (supporting school-aged children with pedagogical support).

Volunteer Requirements

The volunteer must be an empathetic person, with a lot of patience, creativity and a great desire to support children and adolescents with different types of disabilities.
The level of Spanish is not very important.
