About

Go for Goals is a social development initiative dedicated to empowering adolescents and young people by equipping them with essential life skills through handball and creational activities. The project creates a safe and inclusive space where young people can develop critical skills, boost their confidence, and build positive relationships, preparing them for a healthier and more empowered future.

The promote the following activities:

Handball Development

• Promote teamwork and collaboration through regular training and matches
• Develop self-discipline, responsibility, and respect for rules
• Improve physical fitness, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyles
• Build leadership skills, confidence, and sportsmanship among team players

Life Skills Education

• Strengthen emotional intelligence and self-awareness
• Enhance communication and interpersonal skills
• Foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving
• Promote decision-making, goal setting, and personal responsibility
• Build resilience, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills

Accommodation

Volunteers are accommodated within the project neighbourhood, allowing them to easily integrate into the local community. The accommodation is within walking distance of the project, making daily commuting convenient, safe, and affordable.

Volunteer Tasks

• Assist the handball coaches in organising and facilitating training sessions
• Support in planning and coordinating handball matches, tournaments, and recreational sports activities
• Lead warm-up exercises, and fitness drills
• Facilitate life skills workshops on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Organise interactive activities, games, and discussions that promote creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving
• Support players in developing and career guidance
• Participate in schools’ handball outreach activities
• Help resource mobilisation for the project sustainability

Volunteer Requirements

• Professional or intermediate handball coach/player/sport teacher
• Passionate about treaching young people handball
• Ability to conduct trainings on life skills and creational sports activities
• Ability to speak and write in English
• Willingness to conduct digital fundraising or proposal writing

Location

The project is loacted in Mkuranga, 615 Pwani. Mkuranga is one of the districts in the Pwani of Tanzania. It borders with Dar es Salaam to the North and the Indian Ocean to the East. The area is well known for its coconut plantations, cashew nut farming, pineapple production, fishing, and poultry farming. As one of the fastest-growing peri-urban districts, Mkuranga offers volunteers a unique opportunity to experience both rural and emerging urban lifestyles while engaging with the local community.
