About the Project
Comedor San Calixto has been providing daily lunches for over 28 years to a diverse range of individuals, including children, the elderly, homeless people, families in need, and workers. Serving between 150 to 200 people daily, the meals consist of a bowl of soup, a second plate, and a beverage (juice or milk for children), often supplemented with a dessert, typically fruit. This non-profit organization, coordinated by the Catholic Church, aims to combat hunger by offering the most affordable lunches possible, ensuring quality food reaches those most in need.
In addition to meals, the facility offers a range of support services. These include showers, a hair salon, a pharmacy, and medical and dental visits. There is also a therapeutic service for individuals struggling with alcoholism and a play center for children. Comedor San Calixto further promotes informal educational activities for its beneficiaries.
