The Human Rights in Diversity study was conducted within the scope of the project “Communicating Human Rights in Diversity”, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union . It explores the impacts of the human rights learner-centred project on the holistic development of the volunteers.
The 31st General Assembly of the ICYE Federation took place in Hoi An, Vietnam from 18th to 23rd November 2019 and was attended by 56 participants from 35 countries around the world. A week full of inspiration, talks, discussions and last but not least, happy celebrations of ICYE’s 70th anniversary!
Thank you everyone for all the memorable moments shared together and to Volunteers for Peace Vietnam for being such a great host. The programme comprised enriching discussions on the growth and development of the Federation, on adopting a code of ethical practice as well as committing to developing policies on safeguarding children and on sexual violence, a market place for negotiations, and a sightseeing trip in old Hoi An!
Time4Diversity was an international project funded with the support of the European Commission in the frame of the Erasmus+ Programme as a Strategic Partnership for Youth. The handbook is a useful source for institutions and organisations to foster intercultural understanding among pupils especially in vocational schools and to help them to deal with conflicts constructively. The aim of the manual is to provide a framework for civil courage in youth work and international voluntary projects. This manual, created by trainers, introduces a collection of methods, activities, initiatives and projects on how to teach and promote civil courage. All methods have been implemented during the training courses “I can do it! Support civil courage within the EVS” and “Stand up! Support civil courage within your youth projects” organized by the Austrian organization Grenzenlos Intercultural Exchanges. The publication is funded by the wienXtra‐jugendinfo in the frame of „Eure Projekte“.
The Practical Guide for Intercultural Learning is a publication of the project “Skills and Competences for a Global World”, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. It aims to prepare, train and support young people in making the most of their volunteering experience and maximising their intercultural learning. The guide offers 45 non-formal and intercultural learning methods including theoretical input and introductory exercises that facilitate reflection and learning on identity, diversity and power relations, and promote a society based on solidarity and values of human rights.
A qualitative study, conducted within the scope of the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project “Skills and Competences for a Global World”, assessed the impacts of the EVS volunteering experience on ten volunteers in the project and their host organisations, as well as examining the systems and process in place for volunteer management and support.
The Non-Formal Learning Handbook was produced within the framework of the project “Volunteers at the Interface between Formal and Non- Formal Education”, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union . It aims to prepare, train and support volunteers for their voluntary service in formal and non-formal educational host organisations, offering a wide selection non-formal methods and activities that can be implemented with children, youth, differently abled young people and those at risk.

How will youth exchange develop further? What is becoming a trend? The main part of the publication outlines 13 important trends that show potential for the future. The ICYE Guide to Visbility and Promotion has been produced within the scope of the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project “Calling Youth to Action in a Global Visibility Drive”. It aims to assist all organisations that wish to promote long-term international volunteering and non-formal learning.
The Human Rights Education toolkit is a product of the “Communicating Human Rights in Diversity” project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, and aims to provide a human rights educational approach to international voluntary work.
