About

ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) aims to connect people from different cultures and backgrounds through international voluntary services. By living and volunteering in a local community abroad, participants develop personal and professional skills while fostering intercultural understanding, respect and global awareness. ICYE Switzerland coordinates short- and long-term outgoing and incoming exchange programmes (1–12 months). The office team works together with voluntary co-workers to organize marketing events, camps, meetings and exchange activities. The organisation manages programme administration, communication with partners, participant support and event logistics.

Location

Bern is the capital of Switzerland with around 142,000 inhabitants and is located in the German-speaking part of the country. As the political centre of Switzerland, it hosts federal institutions and embassies. Both languages German and French are commonly used.

Volunteer Tasks

The volunteer works closely with the ICYE office staff and voluntary co-workers. Tasks may include general office support (filing, archiving, IT and process support), assistance in marketing and communication (emails, social media, website, newsletter, graphic design), administrative support for outgoing programmes and support in event logistics. The volunteer gains insight into intercultural programme management and office administration.

The volunteer should have good knowledge of German and enjoy working in an office environment, ideally with some prior experience. Basic knowledge of English and French is an asset. Flexibility, communication skills, curiosity, team spirit and willingness to participate in occasional activities within Switzerland are important.
