About

Mainichi-Christmas (meaning everday christmas: keeping the Christmas spirits alive all-year-round) is a day care service center for elderlies surrounded by nature so that everyone can feel comfortable and feel home. They have a motto, “getting old is natural for everyone, we embrace the life you have lived and respect your individuality.” Mainichi-Christmas creates a peaceful and lively environment for elderly people, taking care of them in their daily activities. Mainichi provides a welcoming atmosphere to everyone in the community.
They also work with an after school programme with local Elementary school.

Volunteer Tasks

Work with the elderlies:

• Taking care of the elderly people and visit them in case they have to go to the hospital
• Help with different recreation activities.
• Help with cleaning and cooking in the facility.

Work with the children:

• Taking care of the elementary school children (1st~6th grades) at the after school programmes like cooking, playing in the river and support them with activities safe.
• There are also many events such as festivals hosted by volunteers, cultural exchange events, and Christmas parties . Volunteers will have many
  opportunities for international cultural exchange

Volunteer Requirements

• It is recommended that volunteers have basic Japanese language skills or be prepared to learn Japanese.
• No alcohol is permitted (except for parties which are of voluntary participation).
• You are not allowed to smoke.
• You need to be punctual.
• You should be tolerant and answer questions kindly even though they may ask the same questions several times.
• Please bring something from your own country to introduce yourself and share about your own culture.

Location

Nikko is one of the most famous tourist places, surrounded by many temples, shrines and a beautiful nature.

Accommodation

Volunteers will be accommodated in the project, and live with the project manager’s family.
